Gates da Gourmet
The gate gourmet problem brought to light the ‘strength da Southall’. Southall, near the Heathrow is the home of majority of the Punjabi population in London. When Gates gourmet sacked a large number of labours most of whom were Indians settled in London, the women folks in Southall joined the crowd in protest against the management. Many of the ground staff of BA who were Indians too joined them.

It was the united strength of these which brought to light what a force it could be. BA had to cancel most of its flights taking off from Heathrow. It was then that BA realized that apart from the pilot and stewards it also takes many other people like the staff who handle your baggage, who supplies the food inside the flight etc to ensure that the flight could take off. The people who are involved in these works were predominantly desis (Punjabis in particular)

Insiders say that everything at Gate Gourmet were going smooth till it was taken over from a British firm by a American venture capital firm which put a German manager. This manager it is believed had sacked a lot of Indian workers to be replaced by Poles and other EU workers. This had sparked the protest.

Fast...Forward...
A recent study by US scientists have revealed that Forwarding emails helps people maintain social ties. The research had been done by Benjamin Gross at the University of Illinois along with his colleagues. The research studied e-mail forwarding behaviour and the same has been published in the New Scientist.

He says, “Forwarding a genuinely amusing or interesting link to a friend shows that you are thinking of them and are aware of the sort of content they like. At the same time, passing an irrelevant or out-of-date link on to contacts can be annoying, thus lowering the sender's social status in the recipient's eyes”.

The power of the email based networking has been used by the internet marketing firms who use the free mail services like yahoo attach marketing links along with the message sent.

So people improve your social ties…Forward more mails… J

Garam Garam Rajini
We have heard of Rajini movies doing well in Japan. ‘Thalaivar’’s (as called by his ardent fans) fame has taken the next step when a local Japanese company decided to cash on his fame by making him their brand ambassador. Tohato, the company markets snacks in the name of ‘Garam Masala’. The package has a still from his super hit movie ‘Muthu’ (Called as Dancing Maharaja in Japan) – a photo of Rajini and Meena.

Just have to wait to see if Rajini has plans of joining the Japanese politics....
